Maki Tomita is a 29-year-old woman working as a sales assistant for a housing manufacturer. She is efficient at her job and trusted by her colleagues, but she has a personality that makes it hard for her to assert her feelings. After six years of marriage, she finds herself struggling with not being able to express her true feelings to her husband.
One day, after Maki is forced to smile awkwardly in response to a rude question from her boss, her colleague, Asahi Yamate, tells her, “It’s frustrating to watch.” Although he seems cold and distant at times, he also shows concern for her well-being, which leaves Maki confused. Then, unexpectedly, Yamate kisses her. Torn between her growing feelings for Yamate and her position as a married woman, Maki’s heart is thrown into turmoil.
